UCLA Quantum Innovation Hub Director

On November 7, 2025, campus announced the appointment of Professor Jason Petta as Director of the UCLA Quantum Innovation Hub (QIH). In early 2024, UCLA acquired the former Westside Pavilion mall.  The mall is presently being converted into the UCLA Research Park.  The UCLA QIH and the California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy will be the two founding anchors of the Research Park.  The QIH is a multidisciplinary research organization established by UCLA scientists and engineers to facilitate collaboration with researchers from industry, government, and outside institutions.  The mission of the QIH is to translate fundamental developments in quantum science and engineering into practical applications to advance the nation’s economic interests by establishing the greater Los Angeles area as a driver of technological innovation and growth in quantum science and engineering, building a quantum-ready workforce, and bolstering the regional economy.
